Telstra’s, the lagest telecommunication company in Australia, origins date back to 1901, and Australian Federation, when the Postmaster-General’s Department was established by the Commonwealth Government to manage all domestic telephone, telegraph and postal services. I held a 5 month contract position with Telstra Digital Media (formally Sensis), which is a part of Telstar. My role within the company was to manage and help grow the search engine marketing campaigns that we ran across Google and Yahoo. The role involved:
- Managing $75,000+/month of campaign(s) spend
- Doing keyword research and writing copy for all ads I managed
- Performing campaign setup as well as launching and optimizing campaigns on a regular bases
We also implemented weekly team status meetings after my arrival to share knowledge across our team and understand where are the opportunities to grow and also minimize our weaknesses as our campaigns increased in complexity.
Success was measured by meeting our KPIs, which I hit 72% of the time month over month. We also have a steady growth, 20% month over month, in our business during my tenure as we created efficiencies within our department to allow us to handle more campaigns and increased budgets.
